Task 2: Digital Tech plus English
Option 1: I am a secondary teacher and do not teach English, but my suggestion is based on a potential activity combining Digital Tech, English and Italian (studied at our school). Year 7 students, as newcomers to secondary school, complete an activity that helps everyone get to know them a little better. In English and Italian they complete a journal about their lives to date and their families. They then use this information to deliver a multimodal presentation to the class. This is replicated in Italian (obviously using basic Italian). I have proposed to both departments that as of next year, they will learn to use Scratchand Flash in ICDT and will present their stories using one of those programs.
Option 2: Year 7 English students could be asked to select a character from the novel being studied and recreate the story from their perspective, then animate it using Scratch or Flash.
