I thought a good literacy lesson involving digital technologies might involve having children create book talks. They could begin by creating a flow chart which could serve as a checklist, deciding and then checking off all the things to be included in their talk eg. Have I explained who the main character is? Was it an interesting book? The final outcome might be deciding whether to recommend it to others or not.
Then children could use Scratch and use two sprites. One could be an interviewer, asking questions about the story, and the other sprite could answer the questions. The final question could be "Do you recommend this story".
After presenting their talk to the rest of the class, there could be a discussion as to whether children now want to read this story and what question helped them to make this decision.
