Integrating Digital technologies with English. My R-2 class have been reading and writing fairy tales. As an activity, I got the class to enact the story of the three little pigs using bee bots. The children drew the outline of the big bad wolf, couloured it in and cut it out, then sticky taped it to a bee bot. Like wise they transformed the other three bee bots into the 3 little pigs. They also made the pigs homes, one of straw, one of sticks and one of bricks. The children took turns to read the story , stopping to program the’ bee bot wolf’ to move over the grid to each of the little pigs home in turn and also programed each little pig to ‘run’ to the next pigs home.
English outcome identify, reproduce and experiment with rhythmic, sound and word patterns in poems, chants, rhymes and songs.
Digital Technologies outcome follow, describe and represent a sequence of steps and decisions needed to solve simple problems.
