Katherine Scott▸ U2: Algorithms & Programming
Having used Lego WeDo 2.0 in a number of classrooms I had students trial a number of different strategies to facilitate collaboration. We found that groups of 4 were rarely as successful. Groups of 3 worked well with students taking the following roles (during the build phase).
Builder – assembles the pieces
Supplier – finds the required pieces and offer advice to the builder as needed
Operator – controls the device, document the process and lets the supplier know what is needed.
All three roles would offer advice and suggestions to each other as they went along. Teams would swap roles after a set number of build steps. Some teams would quickly find that each had a skill/preference but we would focus on rotating the roles in the next lesson once students were more confident to try a new role. #csertask2
