Task 1 – Visual Programming – Blockly Games – Maze Challenge

– How was the experience?
Frustrating, challenging, enjoyable and rewarding – the further I went through the mazes the more frustrating and challenging I found it but the reward was also greater when I finally reached the end.

– Challenges:
Not getting to the end of the maze first go each time; trying to put in more code than I was allowed for some levels and getting frustrated; sticking with it (persisting)

– Enjoy:
I actually really enjoyed the challenge of the higher levels – they frustrated me no end but I just couldn’t give up – I HAD to reach the end!!

– Why this activity?
I haven’t really looked at Blockly closely before and so I wanted to give it a go and see what it was like

– Classroom/PL Session:
Great activity to focus on persistence and never giving up; also learning from your mistakes; perfect activity for Pair Programming so that students can bounce ideas off each other and work on the levels together
