Julie Osborne▸ U3: English Connections

I like the lesson where an early years teacher models the use of a Beebot for a literacy 'find the letter' activity on a mat. This is a simple activity which enables students to practice recognising and sounding out letters of the alphabet and developing their skills in navigational language as they describe and provide instructions for the robot to follow. Once this has been modelled a couple of times to the class, this activity can be extended to spelling words. Children work in pairs to test each other on their spelling list words. Children have to direct the Beebot to the letters to spell out their words.
