Julie Osborne▸ U4: Math Connections

Beebots provide a wonderful opportunity to explore mapping in Maths.

Before completing any tasks with beebots, if children have not had the opportunity to use beebots before, providing children with time to explore and play with them is important to ensure they are familiar with using beebots.

Make big floor maps to scale. Start with relatively simple maps. Students, in groups, must instruct the beebot to move from one place to another. As the students complete this task, make the task more complicated by increasing the number and complexity of instructions the students need to give to direct the beebot to different locations.

Upon successful completion of above task, enable students time to create their own map and set of instructions, which they will pass to another group to complete.
