Unit 4 Maths Connection
Students integrate the use of digital technologies in an iMaths investigation that they currently do 'unplugged'. Students revise and extend their knowledge of mapping coordinates, flip/rotate/slide, compass directions and general directions. Students plan and create a grid map with landmarks and develop directions to navigate from a designated start point to an end point. This is carried out in several stages, firstly unplugged (on grid paper), then drawn in the playground with chalk and cards with landmarks drawn/printed on them. Spheros could be programmed to navigate through the grid at this point. Finally, the grid map is created digitally (e.g. Scratch2), coding a sprite to get from one point on the map to another.
