Using paired programming, I used the driver/navigator (without those terms – will next time) to support year 1 student coding and problem solving by assigning the following task.

On a 1-100 grid ( we have one in the playground and this made it much more fun) human robot placed a marker on a chosen number / programmer then had to direct the robot to their chosen number starting at 1. When students found the easy way I then added complications such as only right turns or you must land on 15 first.
